Kathy Orta inspired Baby album

A friend of mines daughter is pregnant and having a girl and I decided to make her a baby album. I always use the same BABY word album style so decided that i wanted to try something new. I bought the Kathy Orta Retro fitted mini album tutorial from Paper Phenomenon blog and used this as inspiration to make the album.

Here are some of the many pictures I have taken:

Each page has pockets and tags that I have not photographed individually as it would take up far to many pictures and space but these give you an idea of each page. There are far to many papers, stamps and embellishments to mention so I will not be going through all of that but I hope that this will inspire somebody to make this kind of album as its heaps of fun and very rewarding to see the end result!!

Happy Scrapping

Get well soon

I received some bad news this morning, being that my sister, Lorraine, had a bad fall and has broken her shoulder in the joint where the arm is attached and chipped another section of the shoulder. She is ok but in incredible pain and will have to see a Specialist in the week coming. For the meantime, I thought I would make her a card to cheer her up and hopefully let her forget about all the pain for a wee while!

She loves sunflowers and I have a 6" x 6" paper stack from Prima called the Sun Kiss Collection so I have used this as the background paper, matted with cream and a fudge colour card stock. I have also distressed the edges with Tim Holtz vintage photo distress ink (my favourite ink ever).

I have a layer of cream lace and a lemon colour ribbon under the Couture Creations doily with handmade sunflowers. The flourish I did with individual gold rhinestones and the butterfly is stamped and coloured in with my spectrum noir pens and then embossed to give it that beautiful shine.

18th Birthday card

I am very pleased to let you all know that my son, Jonathan, turned 18 in April and I have been making him music themed birthday cards each year for the past 3 years. I did not know what I wanted to do for a card this year but wanted something different and special for his 18th. I was paging through the Splitcoaststampers website and came across a card that grabbed my attention. Its a play on the tri-fold card and although she did not give any measurements on how to make this card I figured I would be able to figure it out.

So this is the my twist on the Tri-fold card:
Measurements are : 12" x the height of your card, I have used 12" x 6" card base. Measure off 2 inch from the top of the card and then using a craft knife cut on the 2" line from 2" to 10" . Then using a scoring board score the top piece at 2", 4", 6", 8' and 10". This makes 6 2" squares on the top. At the 6" mark score right down to the bottom of the card base to make a center fold for the rest of the card. Then decorate as you please. I have used paper from the Craft Concepts Vintage Grunge collection as it is music notes and piano keys. I have stamped stars and flourishes on the paper and embossed with black embossing powder to give it dimension. I have also used Tim Holtz vintage photo ink to distress the edges of the paper and then matted with cream on a black base.

.

The 18 is cut out with my Cricut using a gothic style font and also embossed with black embossing powder for effect.
These are two of the same style cards that I have made, the left for my son Jonathan and the right for a mate in Australia.

Hope this inspires somebody - enjoy your weekends and I will be back again next week

Mother Day cards

I found this idea for Mothers Day cards on the My  Scrap Chick facebook page and I knew that I had to have the cutting file and make these for Mothers Day cards this year.  Its the Teacup easel card and this is my version:

I am extremely pleased on how they came out and cannot wait to see my Mother-in-law and Mothers face when they open these!!

Check out the My Scrap Chick webiste as well and explore all the beautiful work and creations

Greetings to all

Greetings to all, I have a few projects to show you today, some of which I have been working on for a few weeks now. I do not know whats up with me lately but I seem to be taking on to many projects all at once instead of finishing one and the moving on to the next.

However, the first project is one I found on Youtube and its an Easel Post-it-note box card. My friend Tracy is a post it note fanatic so I had to try and make her one of these. Its a very simple and easy project but packs a punch on presentation.

I used Craft cardstock for the base and the patterned paper is from the Minds Eye collection. The flowers are handmade and I found the pattern on the Couture Creations blog. My latest craze is stick pins and I am having a heap of fun making them and I probable have used one is every project I have made in the last 2 months.

BUT moving on, my friend Tracy's, daughter has completed her degree in Marine Biology and is now studying to become a teacher. She carries her diary around with her where ever she goes so I decided to make her something in that line. Found the "Completed Dollar Calendar Mini" by papercrafter45 on Youtube which inspired me. I have used this idea but combined it with Kathy Orta's December Daily 2 project which is a gatefold mini album using the hidden hinge method. So I combined the two and come up with a Gatefold Calendar mini album.

This is the front over of the album, Vintage styled for her personality and I have used the same kind of flowers in this project as the previous one.Another stick pin!
This is the inside of the album once you open the cover. On the left hand side I have used Kathy Orta's pocket style and made a tag with the Public holidays and school terms. On the right is another pocket and tag with a calendar of 2014. The center is the first page of the album.
Open the flap and you have the completed month of January, these calendars I have made so that she can remove and replace for each year. There are 12 pages - one for each month and is put together in a gatefold style meaning one to the left and the next to the right and repeating the process.
There is a pocket on each front page of each month with a list of birthdays
The very back of the album I have made another pocket and placed a notebook in it. Also done so that she can keep replacing as required.

Hope I have inspired somebody with this project and hope to hear from you guys as to what you think
