Update on cupcakes

So the stamp set arrived from the UK today and the stamps where a tiny bit smaller than I was expecting!! But once I got using them I realized that if I was honest with myself, the stamps where a perfect size. So I have stamped them and layed each one with an alternative colour - Silver with red and the red with black and this is what it looks like finished.

Really pleased with the result!!

What is a cupcake stand without cupcakes

I have at last finished the cupcakes for the Burlesque theme cupcake stand: Not what I thought it would look like but I am really happy with the outcome regardless.

Some of them need a few touch ups on the base where the polystyrene touches the cupcake paper but that is minor adjustments!! I have bought a set of stamps ( corsets) off ebay which are being posted from the UK and I will be making toppers for the cupcakes so once the stamps arrive I will be posting more photos of those as well.

Figured I was all done with what I had planned to make for the party but was paging though Pinterest last night and came across this:

Well I was inspired all over again, so I decided that I wanted to make one of these as well. This is what I came up with:

Gee whiskies but am I having fun with this whole Burleque theme!! Never been as inspired with any other project ever before. What will I come up with next??????

Update on 21st Tea party

Just a note to advise that the 21st Tea Party was a huge success and here are two photo's of the cupcake stand and thank you treat bags at the setting:

Cupcake stand

So working on Shanna's Burlesque themed party, got me thinking about further decorations. I searched the internet to find a template of a dress form cupcake stand and could not find anything. What I could find was a normal stand but the actual cupcakes are themed which is not what I wanted. So I got to designing my own  cupcake stand that is dress form shaped. I used an existing SVG dress form file, which I enlarged and cut our 4 times. Scored each one down the middle and glued them together. This gives me the stand!!

Then I cut out three circles - 7" x 7", 9" x 9" and 11" x 11" which makes up the three layers of the stand. Cut in slits on the top so that I can put them in place on the dress form stand. Top layer is silver, middle is red and the bottom is black.

Nothing is glued into place or secured and that is why it looks all a bit wobbly and off balance. I unfortunately cannot put this together permanently as it has to be posted to South Africa!!

The next step is adding lace and trim with sequins to the edge of each layer.

  However, as you can see in the last photo, you can see the hot glue used to attach the lace and trim. Did not like this so I decided to make more roses and decorate the inside of each layer to hide the glue.

ONCE AGAIN WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! Does not matter how much work and time it took to make enough (100 odd) roses, I really like the outcome and am glad that I lost sanity for a day and made all these roses:

So this is as far as I can go with this cupcake stand. I will be boxing it up and it will be put together in South Africa for the party. However, my idea I had from the start was for the top of the stand to look like it was exploding!! So  I have made deco items to be attached to skewers and placed on the top of the stand. I decided on the number 21 x 2, burlesque masks x 6, stars x 4 and some cute sticks with silver balls attached. All of these will be placed on the top of the stand with heaps of black feathers so as to keep with the Burlesque theme!!

I cannot wait to see what this all looks like once put together. The party is only in January 2013 so I have quite a while to wait to see it complete but because of the time period it takes to get to South Africa by post it was important to get it done now!!

Burlesque

Hello there, to follow the last post I did, I have been working non-stop on making Thank you tags for my nieces 21st Birthday party and this has been a bigger job than I anticipated. However, its been heaps of fun!

As a reminder, Shanna decided on Burlesque as her theme and this has been an inspiration to me!!  I used the same design as I did for the tags challenge for the Swap Group in Australia! Cut out mannequins, made corsets and a skirt for each one as well. I stamped the mannequins with the Kaisercraft Script stamp and distressed it with Tim holtz Vintage photo ink. I did the same for the background of the stamp except I used the Kaisercraft music notes stamp and then stamped the feather over it and embossed with black embossing powder..A piece of black ribbon and 3 handmade red roses, black eyelit and a combination of red, black and silver ribbon completed the tags. However I still feel that it needs a splash of colour so I have ordered red rhinestones off ebay to place in the center of the circle on the feather. Just waiting for them to arrive to official complete them.

Cupcake stand and Thank you teabag holders

In my previous post I showed you the 21st Tea Party Invites that I made for a friends daughter. In the latest Docrafts Creativity magazine there is a stunning cupcake stand with templates which I looovvvveed and had to try. So I got thinking and what is a Tea Party without a CUPCAKE STAND? For the first time making something like this I am very happy with the outcome - Sure hope Cheyenne is going to love it!!

Once again everything was cut out with my Cricut Expression . Love my Cricut and I would be lost with out it.

Sticking to the theme of the Invites - the paper is also from the Grace Taylor Vintage Collection and I tried to stick to the same colour tones however the roses I made a few shades lighter to make sure that it was not the center of attention when looking at it. The lace border is also a SVG File and the 3D cupcake on the top of the stand is from the "Happy Birthday to you" set at SVG Cuts.

Moving on to the Thank you gifts for the Tea Party:

I am an online  member of "Splitcoaststampers" in USA and I also get alot of my inspiration and ideas from the stunning projects uploaded to the Gallery, There is also a weekly tutorial that their send by email to all the members. Probable about 1 year ago or so there was a tutorial on "How to make a Tea Bag Holder" for a gift and I figured this would be appropriate for the Tea Party. This is what I came up with:
